Travel Diaries: Day 1

Welp let me begin by wishing everyone a happy new year!! As everyone may already know Elle and I are taking the MEGAbus to Chicago. We are super excited about getting there, but just wanted to tell you a little about the beginning of our adventure!

It started at 815 when Bundo came to pick us up, still drunk from night before lol... But thankful he made it! We leave with an unnecessary amount of stuff: 2 pillows, stuffed animals/blankets (yes we are almost 24),2 suitcases, 3 carry ons, 2 purses and a cooler named Jim Bob. We finally haul everything out the door locking it behind me... Did I mention I currently can't find my keys?

We get about half mile down the road when I realize I left my winter jacket, with my license in it... That's great considering my roommate is in PA and I had already called my landlord, Mr. Horny, once this week let me in. So I end up calling him, and yet again he has to unlock it for my friend Care who is going to stop in and pick it up because we thought we were running late.

We get to the stop and I look at the confirmation and realize that in fact we are 40 minutes early because the bus doesn't leave til 9:30. Better early than late I suppose.

We get all cozied in on the bus with our pillows and blankets and Elle just informed me that her car keys and house keys are in my room, which is currently locked... I'm sure that will be another call to Mr. Horny.

Don't want to turn this into another long blog, but just wanted to let everyone know the sort of people that are on the bus: there are 2 45 year old loud women in the very first row and they have already finished a 1/5 and its not even noon. A man who woke up and belched. A herd of asians. And an assortment of other people. Oh and Pedro our bus driver!

This is truly the blind leading the blind traveling.

That's all for now! Happy New Year!!

Signing off from the MEGAbus,

NUMMIES and Elle

Countdown to Chi: 2 hrs

Things I'm not looking forward to: walking around chicago with a thin fleece, no hood and way to much luggage... Also trying to find our way to our friends on the L... Should be an experience

Worst Monday Ever

Happy Holidays!!

I was going to write about how crazy/fun my christmas was, but I decided to write about how horrible my Monday has been....

It all started at 3 in the morning. I was returning, well supposed to be returning, to Cincinnati on the 3:20 bus out of St. Louis. I get there around 20 minutes early and wait and wait for Cliff behind the desk to come back to his station. After being paged twice, he finally comes with 7 minutes until my bus is supposed to leave. I get up there, hand him my ticket and he says oh you printed the wrong thing. I informed him this is the only thing that I could print and also that this is what I have done every other time I have taken the damn greyhound. I hate the greyhound, did I mention that. So he kept telling me to go home and print it, I live about 15 minutes from the station... it just wasn't possible. So my dad started to get wound up and lose his temper, which was quite embarassing. I am pretty sure that he called him an asshole and that he wasn't doing his job.. blah blah blah. Which he wasn't, but I didn't need my dad who had just had a heart attack the week before to start yelling, and also write him a not so pleasant note... Did I mention he has a bad temper? Anyways to make a long story short I didn't get on my bus and missed babysitting, which I felt/feel terrible about :(

The next awesome thing that happened today was that I was running out to my cousins car and completely slipped down my hill, there was mud all over me.

Finally, I went to go switch my greyhound ticket out, all the way down at the station, and I find that their entire system was down. So I wasted an hour of my precious time. I am just hoping that it is back up when I get there this morning because there is nothing that is stopping me from getting on that disgusting bus.

Any-who I am super excited about going to Chi on Thursday morning! I have no money so I will be pinching pennies, but thats ok because it's going to be super fun either way! We are megabussing it, so I will have been on 2 different buses in one week!!

Hopefully I will be writing right after New Years, so I can spread my holiday cheer and actually write about my Christmas and New Years.

Shalom in the home,

NUMSSSS

sooo much to say... such little time

Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to say welcome to Katie, she has never read my blog before and I just wanted to give her a little shotout. I also have not written in over a week... I feel bad becuase I know so many people have been looking forward to my brilliant and humorous blog posts (esp log). I have tons to talk about, but I don't want to bore you with lengthy stories, I will just try and summarize what has been going on in my life for the past week and a half.

Let's see here... It all begins last Wednesday....

Well actually on a not so happy note I went home Wednesday and Thursday for a wake/funeral for Bill Croghan Sr. It was a very hard one, I have known him my entire life. I am glad that I got to go home for it. My cousin Jimmy and his cousin Billy gave amazing speeches at the funeral. I actually made a pact with my cousin Jimmy that I would no longer try and annoy the shit out of him, and he would not yell at me for doing so. I just knew how to make him mad in about 10 seconds of talking to him, his friends loved it... he however hates it.

Moving on... the weekend... nothing to exciting there, oh wait... I had my last class EVER. I wish I could say that I was done, but I still have a 10 pagpaper to write and a presentation (which I have put off for a week). I wish that I could say that by my 2nd senior year that I have stopped putting off papers to the last minute, even after getting an extension.... but I just can't, I will be typing the paper on Sunday hungover as balls.

oh fun fact here: rob informed me that adam simons is the tallest basketball player in xavier's history and drew lavender is the shortest... isn't that to exciting.

the most exciting thing of the week was actually making christmas cards with good old Elle Hess, you may remember her from my guest blogs. I would let you in on what the card entails, but that will be for another day because not everyone has received them yet... and if you don't get one and I didn't send you one, I will just say "oh it must have gotten lost in the mail" that way I don't hurt anyones feelings, and don't worry a picture will be coming next week! I actually have a funny story, the night Elle and I went to make our cards at Walgreen's, we went to Starbucks to wait. There was this woman there, who didn't exactlly seem quite there, wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box if you know what I mean. This woman was making small, but very loud talk.... about the weather and other things.. saying we looked pretty. We were all dressed up for our Christmas card photoshoot and I was wearing this dress.... I must have had my hand on my stomach and she said ohhh is he kicking... I was like I am actually not prego, but thanks for asking... looks like I need to hit the gym, although she said it must be the material ehhh. Then she actually got up and started grabbing Elle's hair and said that she was flying... The prego comment didn't seem to bother me as much anymore.

I don't have much more to say.. except I just got done watch The League and It's Always Sunny in Philly... soooo funny... If you haven't seen the League you need to watch it... just watched the one about the Shiva, to funny... and on It's Always Sunny, Danny DeVito was wearing skinny jeans... enough said.

I have way more stories, but I will save those for when I am back in my office... I am currently in someone else's office and I fear that I have been on their computer for way to long.

Wish me luck on my final presentation and paper EVER!! (unless I get my masters. ha.) And if I told anyone that I was in fact getting my masters now... surprise, I was just finishing my undergrad!

Well I fear that what was going to be a short blog turned into quite a long blog... just couldn't leave anything out.

See you next time from the old office,

NUM NUTS (btw they said num nuts in the league)

Also a big happy 24th bday to Elle who will be joining me on Funday Sunday.

Things I am couting down to:

Roadtrip with Rob to STL: 5 days
Santa coming: 7 days
Riding on Megabus with Elle for NY in Chi: roughly 2 weeks!!!

Please do not hold me reliable for any spelling errors or not capitalized words.... the office I am in is not as equipped as mine and won't let me go back and edit my words without erasing others..... so frustrating!

This blog is dedicated to Gerard P. Erker. (he requested it, think he meant an entire blog, but this will do until I actually get around to doing that)

Tananana Tuesday

hellloooo everyone....

I'm here with Elle Hess again... same setup as last time, wouldn't want to ruin a good thing. Now Elle thought that I shouldn't be blogging, but then I informed her that my ADHD was off the charts right now, she immediatly went to my office. I do my best blogging when I am hyper. I need a new computer in my office, perhaps a desktop, only to be more professional. This laptop I am using is probably from the early 2000s, is my roommates old roommates, has to be plugged in to use.... and also gets about 20 popups per blog. I also am using my neighbors internet, and no she does not know. Luckily she doesn't know about this blog, or else I wouldn't be writing nearly as frequently.

I am sort of drawing a blank at what to say next... Just thought I would let you know. Yea... really don't know what to say...

Oh yes, earlier Elle and I were strolling down memory lane, looking at pictures from freshman year. I was embarrassed by 9 out of 10 of my outfits.. Not quite sure what any of us were thinking quite frankly.... I did see Derson wearing a cute girls wig, I wonder if he still wears that occasionally. By the way, I have this lady gaga song stuck in my head and if I could put voice memos on here I would, it goes like this rahrahrah rah rah gaga gagaga oh nahh laa ah blah blah caught in a bad romance ohhohohohohooooo la la la la.

I don't want to just ramble on about nothing. So I am just going to quit this evenings session.

Stay classy cinci,

NUMMMMS and Miss Elle Hess

Countdown:

Elle's laundry being done: 30-40 minutes
This weekend: 3 days
anything else is just too far awayyyy

Sunday Night Special

Hello all,

I have a special guest joining me tonight.... Miss Elle Hess... We just wrapped up our weekly Sunday night din din, and are enjoying a nice glass of scotch in my office, which is currently also my bedroom. We have a great set up over here, both with our blogging pillows in lap, a blogging candle on my nightstand and a blogging lamp....we don't mess around. Tonight I stumbled on some old memorabilia, my good friend Drew Lavender's WHITE T (size 3T)... I suppose I should get that back to him somehow someway.

Lizzie and I made an awesome dinner, let me tell you. We made homemade lasagna, salad, garlic bread and funfetti cupcakes... quite the spread. Hot Rod, Log and Heather all joined us, in what seemed to be a roasting of me. Some old stories were brought back to my attention. Let me fill you in on my recent trip to West Virginia, I mean Pittsburgh.

STORY TIME:

WARNNG: this story is very long and detailed, but after you read you will realize that I just couldn't leave any details out...

It all began one lovely Friday afternoon when Sarah Jane Simmons and I decided to go visit our good friend Brittani in Pittsburgh. Friday and Saturday we all got extremely loaded. Saturday we stayed up til 5:30 am, and woke up Sunday to tailgate for the Steelers Bengals game at 10 am. Sarah decided not to go to the game, but would wait until after to go back to the nasti. So Brittani and I went to the game with 3 beers, thinking we weren't going to be getting that loaded... considering I had to be in the car for 5 hours that day. I had a funny feeling I would be staying in Pitt, but decided not to say anything.

We get to our tailgate, which consisted of Brittani and I pounding our 1.5 beers each. We were walking over to Wendy's when these old men in a truck stopped us and asked if we wanted a beer an some sausage. Naturally, we didn't turn them down. Anytime our beer would be almost done they would refill it. We had about 6 beers here and enough food for a small family. We then move on to another tailgate, but before that the 40 year old gives Brittani his phone number and takes our pic (a little, well very creepy... but whatever).

At the next tailgate we shotgun some beasts and drink a ying yang or yelanlang, I don't really know its some Pittsburgh brew. We finally enter the game. Our seats were very very high up. We have to roughly 4 beers each, and for some reason we think its a good idea to tell sarah to leave without me and I would take the greyhound home.... yeah, not a good idea. We decide to leave with these nice men in jorts and jerseys, what a combo. We go to the bar, we got even more loaded, actually blacked out.

About an hour in, I can't find Brittani anywhere, so this nice man told me we should go back to his car and wait for her because she was with his friend... I go back and again drink more... we wait for an hour when he says that we should probably go back to his house, my friend and your friend will come meet us because he is my neighbor. For some reason I agree.... why I will never know, but I did. I hop in his camero and listen to chicken friend on repeat as we head to our first destination...

A "quick stop" he says we need to make.... We arrive at this barn and a house at the top of this hill... he told me to wait in he car and he would be right back, but leaves the keys so I'm not scared.... I look around and there is not one house, all I see are trees and a gravel road (very reassuring)... Did I mention my phone was dead. Anyways I didnt get raped our murdered... thank God, however he was doing a coke deal up there... but thats fine I will take that anyday over murder.

So we head to his ummm well his house, well I believed at that point he live in one... Seem like we are driving forever and finally our destination: A TRAILOR PARK. He lived in a double wide, omg... but he had a nice TV. We play monopoly and WAR until finally Brittani shows up... THank God. I have no idea where she went, or where she came from.. I was just glad she made it. Did I mention I tried to go cowtipping? I mean hey I already felt like the biggest hoosier, why not just add on. We both pass out (Brittani fell over in the chair and slept on the cushion of the chair and I on the couch.

I wake her at 2 and she wouldn't move... wake her again at 4 and she had no idea where we were and what we were doing there. To make a long story short, we start driving and about 15 miles in we see a sign that said PITTSBURGH 41 MILES... omg we went to west virgina. WOW. and yes I ended up taking the greyhound home. o boy what an adventure. wow

Well we just finished out our scotch, which means blogging hour is over....

Until next time,

BUTT NUMS

and my guest blogger,

Miss Elle Hess.

feel like im in college again

As I am writing this blog I laying in my cousin Katies dorm... and yes she lives in Brockman, which for all of you who don't know is where I lived my Freshman year. I also slept in her spare bed last night. I actually felt even more in college when I went to lodge bar on a school bus with her last night..... and even more like I was in college when I got on stage with her and her friends. haha. I would say I miss lodge bar, but we had SOUPIES, nothing can top that. However, they did have a school bus driving them to the bar, which we never had. But then again half the fun of soupies was getting there. I remember one night I got a ride from 1015 with a Norwoodian and her daughter, maybe not he safest way but hey I'm still living. rules

Well sad news, Liz is sick and won't be attending her own concert... which means I will not be either :( I will just have to get married so that her band can play at my wedding. Although I still might go out with Heather tonight and party like a rock star! Although I feel like I will be staying in with my good friend Lizzie and watching gay Christmas movies and possibly baking cookies. (I haven't asked her about any of this yet, so surprise!)

There isn't much else going on right now.... However, I did talk to my nanny yesterday for a good half hour about xmas decorations and how I want to move in with her when I come back to St. Louis. I just loveeee my Nanny, she is the best woman ever, but for some reason she doesn't want me to live with her. Her house is like the meca for all Christmas decorations. I actually think that she has more decorations then hallmark, and not just for christmas, for every holiday. It is hard talking to her though because apparently I talk way to fast and mumble, which is hard for an 80 year old to hear. At one point it took me five minutes for her to understand that I was saying the word FALL, I had to spell it out and just for the first letter it took 3 minutes alone. I'm sure that no one wants to hear about nanny and my conversation, but since you are reading you have to see it. HA!

I don't have anything else to say for right now, might check in later when I have more time to think.

Please keep the Croghan family in your prayers. Bill Croghan, Sr. you will be missed, love you. RIP 12/3/09

Seeee ya later,

NUM NUTS

Things I am still counting down to:

STLMO: roughly 17 days, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.
to be honest that is all that I can think of right now, I am having extreme ADHD and need to stop blogging so I can go watch Roseanne Barr on the TV, what a great show.

lost track of blogging.....

Well kind of forgot about the whole blogging thing after my first post..... here is what is going on in my life: .... not to much actually

Let me tell everyone that I love the holidays! I love all the parties, decorations, gift exchanges , family time, board games, and everything else that has to do with the holidays. I just got back from my Thanksgiving in the LOU. I celebrated 3 seperate times and loved every one of them. My brothers also went to state the day after turkey day and well.... we better not bring that up.
I did frequent a local bar called Sports Attic, I absolutely love it. I went with my good friend Molly and a few of our friends and family! I feel like it is like Cheers where everybody knows your name. Everyones seems to know everyone there, or knows someone who knows someone... but I guess that is how st. louis is.
I also attended the Rams game, needless to say the best part was the tailgate. Our tailgate was nothing compared to the peoples next to us... They had 2 flagpoles attached to their tent, and one of the flags was a beer mug. In their tent they had a rams elvis and 2 sets of "platform" washers, they were ready to go, who cares if our team is worst team in the NFL.
Back to Cincinnati...

Last night I went to a little holiday get-together at my friend Dunnings apt. I pretty much made the best gingerbread house ever! I would post a picture... but i wouldn't want to make everyone jealous with my homemaking skills.

Currently I am hanging with Hbomb, who also has a blog: heatherherr@blogspot.com, and Shay bird.... shay is in time out and is belting out her lovely singing voice.

This Friday Heather and I are going to see Liz's (Heathers sister-in-law) band, Johnny Clueless play at bar in Mason. I'm hoping that Liz will let me get up there and swing some TSwift of maybe "All the Single Ladies," I think that my chances are very good. Our good friend Phil the Parrot will be in attendance, and it is going to be a blast!! I also have a crush on the guy that sets up the equipment in Liz's band and I am hoping that he will be in attendance as well because I am pretty sure he will want to start dating me haha.

I don't have to much more to say.....
Signing off,
